Esteury Ruiz Getting A Breather Against Blue Jays
1 year agoOakland Athletics outfielder Esteury Ruiz is taking the day off on Friday as the team takes on the Toronto Blue Jays. Ruiz will get a normal day of rest to start the weekend after snapping a seven-game hitting streak on Thursday. The 24-year-old speedy Dominican has hit .257 (19-for-74) with five doubles, seven RBI, 11 stolen bases and seven runs scored in 18 games in the month of June over 81 trips to the plate. He's been one of the bright spots for the last-place A's in 2023 and should be rostered in all fantasy leagues because of his elite speed. Ruiz has very minimal power -- just one homer in 330 plate appearances -- but he leads all of baseball with 39 stolen bases in 46 attempts. JJ Bleday is starting in center field and batting third on Friday against Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt.
