Esteban Quiroz Going To The Rays
5 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays acquired second baseman Esteban Quiroz from the San Diego Padres on Thursday in the deal to complete the trade that sent outfielder Tommy Pham to the Padres, according to a source. Quiroz is listed as the team's No. 23 prospect, per MLB.com, and he had a nice .271/.384/.539 slash line with 19 home runs and 66 RBI in 96 games for Triple-A El Paso last year. He's old for a prospect at 28 years old and stands at just 5-foot-7, but he's a pesky hitter that could work himself into a utility role in his new home in Tampa. Quiroz is purely one to watch in dynasty/keeper leagues for now, but he could get a shot with the Rays in 2020 if he continues to produce in the minors.
