Elvis Andrus Won't Opt Out Of Deal
6 years agoTexas Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus will not use his opt-out clause in his contract and leave behind the four years and $58 million left on his current deal. Andrus has another opt-out clause for the 2020 season, so he's hoping to improve his value after disappointing in 2018 while missing time with a fractured elbow. The shortstop hit only .256/.308/.367 with six home runs, 33 RBI and five stolen bases in 97 games after hitting .297 with a career-high 20 home runs, 88 RBI and 25 stolen bases in 2017. While the power may never return to 2017 levels, Andrus could certainly bounce back in the average and speed departments if he can stay healthy in 2019.
