Edwin Diaz Expected To Stay Put
5 years agoThe belief is that the New York Mets will hold onto closer Edwin Diaz at the trade deadline. Diaz is a far cry from what he was in his breakout season with Seattle in 2018 and he blew a save on Tuesday. The Mets shouldn't be motivated to sell low on him, especially since he's still under team control through 2022. The hard-throwing right-hander has been frustrating to own with his 5.05 ERA and 1.46 WHIP this year, but he's also struck out 63 hitters in 41 innings and has 23 saves.
