Duke Johnson Frustrated With His Role
6 years agoCleveland Browns running back Duke Johnson has been frustrated with his lack of a role in the backfield through five games. Johnson led the team last year with 74 catches for 693 yards and three receiving touchdowns. He also had 82 carries for 348 yards and four more TDs. Johnson has just 10 catches for 91 yards through five games in 2018 and is on pace to finish with 32 receptions for 291 yards and 55 rushing attempts for 240 yards. Head coach Hue Jackson indicated that Johnson could see more work in the passing game with receiver Rashard Higgins (knee) out two to four weeks. Offensive coordinator Todd Haley played Johnson on 51 percent of the offensive snaps in Week 5 after he averaged in the mid-30 percent the previous three weeks. While Johnson's involvement is going up, he's still too risky of a flex play with Carlos Hyde and rookie Nick Chubb also in the backfield.
