Drew Steckenrider Optioned
2 years agoThe Seattle Mariners optioned right-hander Drew Steckenrider to Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, according to president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto. Steckenrider has been in the mix in Seattle's save committee this year. The 31-year-old reliever has two saves and four holds, but he's also blown two saves and has a 5.65 ERA in 14 1/3 innings so far for Seattle. He had 14 saves and seven holds while producing a nice 2.00 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 62 games for the M's last year, but Steckenrider has been too unreliable in 2022. In the meantime, the Mariners will roll with Paul Sewald, Diego Castillo and Andres Munoz in their closer-by-committee setup.
