Drew Smyly May Be Forced To Miss Next Start
5 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Drew Smyly (ankle) could be forced to miss his next start and could be forced to the injured list with his ankle injury. If Smyly is skipped or placed on the injured list, the Rangers would almost certainly have to go outside the organization to replace him in the starting rotation. The 29-year-old left-hander has been terrible this year, going 1-5 with an 8.40 ERA, 1.91 WHIP, 31 walks and 44 strikeouts in 45 innings over nine starts and two relief appearances. The 15 home runs he's allowed has been his big issue, but nobody should be too surprised since Smyly hadn't pitched in a major league game since 2016 before this year. If he does make his next start, fantasy owners should avoid him.
