Drew Brees Has Successful Surgery
5 years agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (thumb) underwent successful thumb surgery and is expected to remain in Los Angeles and do rehab work for the next few days, according to a source. His original timeline of six weeks remains within reach and the Saints haven't placed Brees on Injured Reserve. Keep Brees stashed on your bench for the time being. Teddy Bridgewater will get the first shot to replace Brees under center, but the Saints could have a short leash with him and go to Taysom Hill if he's not performing. All Saints pass-catchers, including stud Michael Thomas, must be downgraded with Brees out for the next month-plus.
