Don't "Shut the Door" on Donte Moncrief Re-Signing with Colts
7 years agoOne of the biggest question marks heading into the 2018 offseason was whether the Indianapolis Colts would re-sign fifth-year wideout Donte Moncrief. In an article for ESPN, staff writer Mike Wells wrote that the quality of wide receivers in the free-agent pool means fans shouldn't "shut the door" on a potential return for Moncrief. Despite possessing all the physical tools, the 24-year-old receiver has missed a total of 11 games in his past two seasons due to injuries. With the Colts paper thin at the wide receiver spot and general manager Chris Ballard being cautious with the team's $85 million in salary cap space, it wouldn't be surprising to see Moncrief return on a prove-it type of deal. For fantasy purposes, Moncrief’s up-and-down play might make him worth a late-round flier in 2018 drafts, but that will all depend on the health of quarterback Andrew Luck.
