Dolphins Close To Signing Jordan Howard
5 years agoThe Miami Dolphins are closing in on a deal for former Philadelphia Eagles running back Jordan Howard, according to a source. Howard averaged a healthy 4.4 yards per carry in 2019 when he was healthy. The 25-year-old Bulldozer played in just 10 games in his lone season for Philly last year, including only four starts. He had 119 carries for 525 yards and six touchdowns, adding only 10 receptions for 69 yards and another score. The former Chicago Bears running back was a Pro Bowler in his rookie season, but he's mostly become an early down, between-the-tackles runner and hasn't had more than 29 catches (in his rookie year) in a single season. With Kalen Ballage currently atop the depth chart in the backfield, Howard would likely see most of the early down carries if he signs, but his lack of pass-catching chops probably gives him an RB2 ceiling.
