Dodgers Re-Sign Blake Treinen For Two Years
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers re-signed right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen to a two-year, $17.5 million deal through the 2022 season on Tuesday. The deal includes a team option worth $8 million ($1 million buyout) for the 2023 season, according to a source. The 32-year-old went 3-3 with a 3.86 ERA (11 earned runs in 25 2/3 innings) and 22 strikeouts in 27 appearances in the shortened 2020 season. Treinen led the team in holds (nine) and appeared in a team-high 11 playoff games, going 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA (six earned runs in 11 1/3 innings), while also saving Game 5 of the World Series. In seven major league seasons, the reliever is 29-25 with a 3.02 ERA with 72 saves and 413 strikeouts in 425 2/3 innings. Treinen will continue to serve as a setup man for closer Kenley Jansen in the late innings.
