Dodgers Extending Qualifying Offer To Yasmani Grandal
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers will extend a $17.9 million qualifying offer to free-agent catcher Yasmani Grandal, according to a source. It means that the Dodgers will receive draft-pick compensation if Grandal signs with another team in free agency. Grandal has a lot of swing and miss to his game, but he's also one of the better power bats at the catcher position, swatting 24 home runs and driving in 68 in 440 at-bats. He was frequently benched in the postseason because of his lackluster defense, however, and that could scare a lot of potential suitors away, as well as the qualifying offer.
