6 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers exercised manager Dave Roberts' option for the 2019 season on Wednesday, according to president Andrew Friedman. However, the team still expects to sign Roberts to a long-term deal soon. The option buys the team more time to negotiate with Roberts on an extension. Roberts has led the Dodgers to three straight National League West titles and two straight World Series appearances, so you can say he's due for an extension. He's gone 287-200 since taking over managerial duties in 2016. An extension makes sense for Roberts despite the fact that he made some questionable calls in his second straight World Series defeat in 2018.
