Dodgers, Corey Knebel Avoid Arbitration
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers and relief pitcher Corey Knebel avoided salary arbitration on Thursday by agreeing to a one-year, $5.25 million deal. Pitcher Dylan Floro did the same by agreeing to a $975,000 contract. The 29-year-old Knebel was acquired from the Brewers on Dec. 2. The hard-throwing right-hander was an All-Star in 2017 but missed all of 2019 with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow and struggled in his return in 2020. The 2013 first-rounder had 39 saves and a 1.78 ERA in 76 outings in 2017, but he had a 6.08 ERA in 15 games with Milwaukee last year. He has a career ERA of 3.31 with 57 saves in 239 relief appearances. As the Dodgers try to get Knebel back on track, he'll likely begin in middle relief in 2021.
