Diamondbacks Exercise Paul Goldschmidt's Option
6 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks exercised first baseman Paul Goldschmidt's $14.5 million option for the 2019 season on Monday. Goldschmidt was uncharacteristically quiet in the first half this year but picked it up in the second half to finish with Goldschmidt-like numbers. The 31-year-old hit a solid .290/.389/.533 with 33 home runs, 83 RBI, 95 runs scored and seven steals in 158 games. His stolen base numbers were a bit down, but Goldy remains an elite fantasy first baseman going into 2019. With just one year left in the desert, he could be on the trade market depending on how the D-backs want to play things next year.
