DeVonta Smith Leads Eagles In Receptions In Week 18
2 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith caught 7-of-8 targets and gained 67 yards during the team's 22-16 victory over the New York Giants. It ends a fantastic second season for the 24-year-old, who led the Eagles in receptions and finished with 1,196 yards and seven touchdowns. Many feared the Philadelphia offense would not throw enough to support two high-level fantasy wide receivers, and the addition of A.J. Brown this past April would only hurt the fantasy value of the sophomore receiver. However, this was not the case, as Brown's presence on the field only helped Smith get open against No. 2 cornerbacks and burn them with his elite speed. He will end the season as a back-end WR1 in most formats and will be a much more pricy draft pick in 2023. The Eagles receiving corps is not likely to change much in the offseason, leaving Smith as a mid-range WR2 come draft season.
