Devin Williams Breaks His Hand After Punching A Wall
3 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Devin Williams (hand) will miss the rest of the regular season and is likely out for the postseason as well. The 27-year-old reliever got a bit too excited during the team's celebrations after clinching the NL Central title on Sunday. During the celebration (which indeed included some drinking), he punched a wall with his right hand. Yes, his pitching hand. The team revealed on Wednesday that he suffered a fractured right hand from the punch. This is a devastating injury for Williams and the Brewers. He struggled out of the gate this year, but had really settled in over the second half of the year. He made 58 appearances on the season and pitched to a 2.50 ERA and 1.19 WHIP. His 38.5% strikeout rate on the year ranked in the 98th percentile of the league.
