Deshaun Watson Should Play More Saturday
6 years agoHouston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson (knee) is expected to see more playing time in the preseason game against the 49ers on Saturday, but it doesn't sound as though that'll come with a big increase in snaps. He received five snaps in the preseason opener last week, and the Texans have liked what they've seen from Watson coming off a serious knee injury. He has looked as smooth as ever so far while scrambling and throwing on the run, and his mechanics in the pocket have also been great. Head coach Bill O'Brien is tempering expectations, saying that this is a continuation of Watson's rookie year after he played in only seven games in 2017. Watson was posting video-game numbers in his rookie year before the injury, so expecting that to continue would be foolish. But he still has incredible upside and is a top-10 fantasy QB regardless.
