Derwin James Out Indefinitely
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers All-Pro safety Derwin James (foot) came down with a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot on Thursday and will be out indefinitely. James was wearing a walking boot on his right foot during practice on Friday. The Florida State alum played in all 16 games in his rookie season and led the Bolts in tackles (105) while garnering 3.5 sacks, three interceptions and 15 pass breakups. With James out on Friday, Adrian Phillips worked with the starters at strong safety. It's unclear how long James might be out, but this obviously puts his availability for Week 1 against the Colts in question. LA's secondary would be severely weakened without James, but the Chargers defense is still worth a selection in standard-sized leagues.
