4 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays placed right-hander David Phelps (lat) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a right lat strain. Phelps had to leave after feeling pain while warming up after entering to pitch the eighth inning in the win on Wednesday over the Oakland Athletics. In a corresponding move, the team activated starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu (gluteus) from the 10-day injured list, and the left-hander will make the start on Thursday against the A's. There is no timetable for Phelps' return, and given the nature of his ailment, don't be surprised if he's not back when his 10 days are up. The 34-year-old has been solid in relief for Toronto this year, allowing just an earned run while striking out 15 and walking four in 10 1/3 innings over 11 appearances.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
