David Njoku Unsure If He'll Be Back
5 years agoCleveland Browns tight end David Njoku, who has fallen out of favor with head coach Freddie Kitchens, will likely be gone if Kitchens remains the head coach in 2020. The No. 29 overall pick in 2017 has been a healthy scratch the last two weeks and could be out again in the Week 17 finale against the Bengals. Njoku broke his wrist in Week 2 and didn't envision standing on the sidelines late in the season when he returned healthy. Njoku wasn't drafted by general manager John Dorsey, and Dorsey has sent most of the previous regime's draft picks out the door. At this point, it seems unlikely that Cleveland will pick up Njoku's fifth-year option if Kitchens remains the head coach. However, with Kitchens and the rest of the coaching staff on the hot seat, it's anyone's guess as to what the team will look like in 2020. If Njoku sticks around and is the starter next year, he'll have obvious TE1 upside.
