David Johnson Unlikely To Get New Deal Before Season
6 years agoArizona Cardinals running back David Johnson and the team are far apart in talks for a new deal and an extension isn't expected to happen before the season opener, according to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora. Johnson is scheduled to make $1.88 million in base salary in the final year of his rookie deal. He led the league with 2,118 yards from scrimmage and 20 total scores in 2016 but missed 15 games with a wrist injury in 2017. Even with a lost season last year, Johnson is a top-five fantasy talent and should once again be the focal point of the offense.
