David Johnson Expects To See More Touches In 2019
6 years agoArizona Cardinals running back David Johnson expects to see the ball more often in new head coach Kliff Kingsbury's Air Raid offense in 2019. The 27-year-old should be featured prominently as both a running back and receiver. “My role this upcoming season, from talking to the coaches, is that I’m going to hopefully get the ball a little bit more,” Johnson said. He'll also be taking handoffs more frequently from the shotgun position, but Johnson is completely fine with that after having experience with it in college. He had 1,239 rushing yards and 879 receiving yards with an NFL-high 20 touchdowns in 2016, so Johnson certainly has the skills to rebound from a disappointing 2018 season. Kingsbury is excited to devise game plans surrounding Johnson, but it won't matter if Arizona's offensive line doesn't improve. Whoever is starting under center for the Cardinals will play a big role as well, but Johnson has what it takes to rebound in a big way. He is worth a first-round pick in fantasy drafts.
