Danny Salazar Will Make His Season Debut on Thursday
5 years agoCleveland Indians pitcher Danny Salazar (shoulder) will come off the injured list and pitch for the first time this season on Thursday. Manager Terry Francona says Salazar will serve as a "modified opener," working the first three or four innings before handing the ball to Adam Plutko. It's a tough first matchup against the Astros and there's essentially no chance of a win or a quality start his first time out, but it'll be encouraging to see Salazar back in action. He pitched well in the minor leagues during his rehab assignment and as long as he stays healthy, he could have some solid value once he's stretched out as a more traditional starter.
