Daniel Palka's Playing Time A Concern
6 years agoWith Chicago White Sox first basemen Yonder Alonso and Jose Abreu slated to fill the first base/designated hitter spots in 2019, it will be up to manager Rick Renteria on whether to play outfielder Daniel Palka in left field or bring him off the bench on most days, according to general manager Rick Hahn. The rookie was the team's primary DH last year, but he may be forced into playing left field primarily next season despite his defensive shortcomings. Palka impressed by hitting .240/.294/.484 with 27 home runs, 67 RBI and 56 runs in his first 124 games in the big leagues. There's obviously a lot to like here, but Palka will be a volatile fantasy selection due to uncertain playing time and his all-or-nothing game.
