Daniel Bard Wins NL Comeback Player Of The Year
4 years agoColorado Rockies right-hander Daniel Bard was named the National League Comeback Player of the Year on Thursday. Bard returned to the big leagues in 2020 after a six-year hiatus. He had a 1.93 ERA over 73 appearances back in 2010 but began dealing with injuries and mechanical issues in 2012. Bard spent most of the next few seasons in the minors and dealt with the yips. He retired in 2017 and spent the next two seasons as a player mentor with Arizona. The 35-year-old was on the Rockies Opening Day roster and got a win in his July 25 season debut. Bard finished 4-2 with six saves and a 3.65 ERA while holding the opposition scoreless in 14 of his 23 relief outings in 2020.
