Daniel Bard Drawing Trade Interest
2 years agoMultiple teams are interested in Colorado Rockies closer Daniel Bard, according to sources. It's not a certainty that the Rockies will trade the impending free agent, but the 37-year-old could be one of the more impactful rentals in this year's relief market with the trade deadline approaching on Aug. 2. Bard has been outstanding as the Rockies closer in 2022, posting a career-low 1.91 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 21 saves, 43 strikeouts and 19 walks in 37 2/3 relief innings. His 21 saves are tied with Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano and Cleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase for fifth in all of baseball, just seven behind Josh Hader and Taylor Rogers. If the Rockies were to trade Bard by next Tuesday, Alex Colome and Carlos Estevez would be the likely candidates to see save chances the rest of the way.
