Dalvin Cook Could Break Out In 2019
6 years agoMinnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook could thrive in 2019 with Gary Kubiak joining the team as an offensive assistant who is expected to implement a zone running scheme. Cook tore his ACL early in his rookie season and missed six games in 2018, so he should surpass his career numbers if he can just stay healthy. On his 207 attempts in his two seasons, Cook has run for 969 yards and caught 51 passes for 395 yards for six total touchdowns. Kubiak's offense will likely give Cook a more defined role in the offense. Quarterback Kirk Cousins should be under center a lot more in 2019 instead of in the shotgun, and Cook did much better with Cousins under center in 2018. A better offensive line and more efficiency out of Cook would also help. Because of his injuries, Cook can probably be had at some point in the second round as a low-end RB1 with potential to outperform his draft slot if he stays healthy.
