Cubs Would Like To Bring Cole Hamels Back
6 years agoChicago Cubs president Theo Epstein said that the team would be interested in bringing starting pitcher Cole Hamels back for next season. “He’s absolutely someone we want to be part of the mix going forward. Cole was such a breath of fresh air for us. He made an unbelievable impression. For a guy who’s been here only 2 months he’s as universally respected in that room as anyone I’ve seen," Epstein said. The veteran southpaw was having a bad year in Texas before he was traded to Chicago, where he turned things around for his fantasy owners by going 4-3 with a 2.36 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 8.7 K/9 in 12 starts. While Hamels doesn't miss as many bats as he used to, he can still demonstrate pinpoint control at times and will remain useful to those in mixed leagues, especially if he stays in Chicago.
