Cubs Pick Up Pedro Strop's Option
6 years agoThe Chicago Cubs picked up relief pitcher Pedro Strop's $6.25 million option for the 2019 season on Thursday. Strop stepped up in a big way for the Cubs bullpen in the second half of the season with closer Brandon Morrow injured, and he even closed out 13 games. Strop finished 6-1 with a 2.26 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 57 strikeouts in 59 2/3 innings. While he's unlikely to enter next season as the closer, he'll be a handcuff option for those that own the injury-prone Morrow.
