5 years agoChicago Cubs relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel threw 24 pitches of live batting practice on Thursday and will have "at least one more" live batting practice session. President Theo Epstein was careful not to say what he expects of Kimbrel next on the schedule. The plan is a "rough draft" that will go off of how Kimbrel feels/recovers. Kimbrel already threw two bullpens after the team signed him last week and will also need to pitch in some minor league games before he makes his team debut later this month. Kimbrel has over 300 career saves and also has posted elite strikeout numbers in his career. He should become the team's primary ninth-inning guy, which will make Pedro Strop a setup man.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
