Cowboys Not Saying If Ezekiel Elliott Will Be On Pitch Count
5 years agoDallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said "it's too early for any of that" when asked if running back Ezekiel Elliott will be on a pitch count in Week 1 against the Giants on Sunday. Elliott held out all of training camp and the preseason before finally signing an extension on Wednesday, but he looked good in practice on Wednesday. "There's no question he's been working out, he's in good shape, his weight's good, all of that. But again he hasn't been practicing against pro football players so you just work your way back into it," Garrett said. Previous reports suggested that Zeke could see only 20 to 25 snaps in the season opener. The bottom line is we don't know how much the Cowboys will ease him in, if at all. As a first-round pick in all drafts, Elliott's owners aren't sitting him in Week 1, but he'll certainly be more volatile with a short leash being possible.
