Corey Seager On Track For Spring Training
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers are confident that shortstop Corey Seager (elbow, hip) will be ready for spring training after he underwent Tommy John surgery in April and a hip operation in August, according to president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman. “Everything, to this point, all the checkpoints have been really good, really positive,” Friedman said. “Until you start really ramping up, you don’t really know. He’s worked extremely hard. He’s in really good hands, so we remain optimistic.” Seager hasn't started a throwing program or started running, but he should have plenty of time to spare before next spring, barring any setbacks. He's expected to start baseball activities in January. He hit .267 with a .744 OPS in 26 games in 2018. Friedman said Seager's hip surgery isn't expected to affect his future at shortstop. Seager was an All-Star the two previous seasons and won the Rookie Of the Year in 2016. He hit .295/.375/.479 with 22 home runs and 77 RBI in 145 games for LA in 2017. Even coming off multiple surgeries, Seager should demand a premium price at his position in fantasy next season.
