Corey Knebel Has UCL Injury, May Need Tommy John Surgery
6 years agoMilwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Corey Knebel's elbow injury is an ulnar-collateral ligament issue, according to manager Craig Counsell. Knebel will go for a second opinion. It's not a complete tear of his ligament, though, and it's not definitive that he'll need Tommy John surgery. Even if Knebel doesn't need elbow reconstruction, he seems destined to miss serious time. That will hurt the depth of one of the tougher bullpens in baseball. Perhaps Milwaukee turns around and signs free-agent closer Craig Kimbrel as a result. This news will cause Knebel's fantasy value to drop significantly, while it also makes Josh Hader more attractive.
