Colts Targeting Shane Steichen As Head Coach
2 years agoThe Indianapolis Colts are targeting Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen to be their next head coach after informing other remaining candidates on Sunday morning that they are moving in a different direction, according to sources. The Colts and Steichen can't officially agree to a deal until after Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, but the Colts want to meet next week to see if they can complete a deal with Steichen. The Colts went 4-12-1 in 2022 and fired head coach Frank Reich midway through the season, with Jeff Saturday going 1-7 as the interim coach. If the Colts do hire Steichen, quarterbacks coach Brian Johnson is expected to take over Steichen's offensive coordinator job in Philadelphia. Steichen's Eagles offense finished third in offense in 2022 in both yards per game (389.1) and scoring average (28.1).
