Colts, Philip Rivers Agree To One-Year Deal
5 years agoThe Indianapolis Colts agreed to a one-year, $25 million guaranteed deal with quarterback Philip Rivers on Tuesday. Rivers to the Colts was expected all along, and now it's official. The 38-year-old gunslinger certainly showed his age in his final season with the Chargers, throwing 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. He's gone over 4,000 yards passing each of the last seven seasons and is as durable as they come, even at his age. Rivers won't have the caliber of weapons that he did in LA in Indianapolis, but what he will have is one of the best offensive lines in the league. That should help him be more efficient, although his arm strength and decision-making are somewhat in question as he nears the end of his career. He'll be taken as more of a midrange fantasy backup in his new home. Adding Rivers means that Jacoby Brissett, who disappointed as the starter in 2019, will be holding the clipboard for Rivers.
