Clayton Kershaw Ruled Out For Opening Day
6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) has been ruled out from making the Opening Day start, but manager Dave Roberts said that Walker Buehler (shoulder) is still in the mix. It'll snap Kershaw's streak of eight straight Opening Day assignments after the left-handed was set back three weeks this spring with left shoulder inflammation. Kershaw is scheduled to throw live batting practice on Wednesday, but his next step is uncertain. Roberts also said "it is probably unlikely" that Kershaw opens the season on the active roster. Buehler will make his first spring start Tuesday night after having shoulder issues of his own. Kershaw's fantasy value is dropping like a rock. Although he came into spring training as a more risky fantasy ace, it might be more appropriate to consider him a high-end second starter at this point.
