Clay Buchholz Stretching Out
6 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Clay Buchholz (elbow) threw 60 pitches in an extended spring game earlier this week and is scheduled for a 75-pitch outing his next time out. He's a candidate to join the starting rotation in mid-April. The 34-year-old veteran surprised everyone when he went 7-2 with a solid 2.01 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 81 K's in 98 1/3 innings (16 starts) for Arizona. He definitely faces an uphill battle in the tough American League East and a hitter's park in 2019, making him an extremely risky streamer when he's back in the big leagues.
