Christian Yelich Enjoys Home Cooking
6 years agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich, the 2018 National League MVP, is hitting .417/.540/.1.271 with 13 home runs at home this year. He's hitting only .227/.306/.273 without a single homer on the road. In fact, his last 18 home runs -- dating back to last season and including the playoffs -- have all come at home. Yelich's last road dinger came on Sept. 25 at the Cardinals. His home/road splits weren't all that different with the Brewers in 2018, but this year he has a 22.2 percent walk rate at home and just an 8.3 percent walk rate and 25 percent strikeout rate on the road. The home/road splits are interesting, but they'll probably level out the deeper we get into the season. Either way you slice it, Yelich is a must-start anytime he takes the field.
