Chris Archer Leaves Start Early Friday
5 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chris Archer (hip) left after just four innings against the Brewers on Friday due to left hip discomfort. The 30-year-old allowed three hits and two earned runs while walking two and striking out six in the four innings. He confirmed that his injury came when he struck out in the top of the fourth on an awkward swing. Archer is optimistic the injury won't linger, but he's already been on the injured list once this year and has been a big disappointment to his fantasy owners. He has a nice 9.77 K/9 on the year, but it comes with a bad 5.50 ERA, 4.64 BB/9 and 18 home runs allowed. Archer is likely on the waiver wire in shallow mixed leagues. The Bucs could turn back to top prospect Mitch Keller if Archer has to go back on the IL.
