3 years agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Chris Rodriguez (shoulder), who has been out since May 5 with right shoulder inflammation, threw a bullpen session on Saturday. Rodriguez also threw a bullpen last Tuesday and is nearing a return from the injured list. The 22-year-old right-hander made his major league debut earlier this year and was pitching really well before his injury, sporting a 2.30 ERA and 1.08 WHIP while striking out 17 and walking eight hitters in 15 2/3 innings over his first eight relief appearances for the Angels. Rodriguez had also vultured two wins. The Angels will likely want to see him in a rehab outing or two in the minors before they activate him, but Rodriguez could continue to be a key arm in the team's bullpen once he returns.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
