Chris Paddack Emphasizing Curveballs In First Bullpen Session
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack was seen working “plenty” of curveballs into his first spring training bullpen session. The 24-year-old burst on the scene last season with a 3.33 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 in his debut campaign, while primarily utilizing a fastball-changeup combination. Having thrown his curve just 10 percent of pitches in 2019, harnessing an effective third weapon could work wonders to complement his wipeout changeup. After tossing a conservative 140 2/3 frames last year, Paddack’s workload shouldn’t be limited in 2020 as he competes to be the Opening Day starter. With an ADP of 56 and currently drafted as a top-20 pitcher, Paddack’s fantasy value offers a balanced risk-reward profile as a solid SP2.
