5 years agoThe Baltimore Orioles placed first baseman Chris Davis (hip) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with hip soreness that manager Brandon Hyde said surfaced in the last few days. Reliever Evan Phillips was called up from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Davis was recently in an 11-game slump while hitting .118 (4-for-34) with 22 strikeouts. In 129 at-bats in 2019, Davis is hitting .171/.257/.318 with five home runs, 11 runs and 17 RBI. The power is still there, but he's way too inconsistent and strikes out way too much to be of use to those in mixed leagues when he's healthy. Trey Mancini and Renato Nunez will likely continue splitting time at first base with Davis on the shelf.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
