Chris Carson Still Seattle's Primary Back
5 years agoThe Seattle Seahawks still plan on using running back Chris Carson as their primary back in 2020 despite signing Carlos Hyde on Friday. Although Hyde could steal some work in short-yardage and goal-line situations early in the season, he's mostly just insurance with Rashaad Penny (knee) a candidate to miss the first six weeks while on the Physically Unable to Perform list. Carson suffered a season-ending hip injury late in 2019 like Penny, but unlike Penny, Carson is fully expected to be ready by Week 1. There's a lot to like about Carson when he's healthy in this run-first offense, but the problem is he always seems to be hurt. As such, fantasy owners feel better taking him as an RB2 with upside for more. Monitor his health this summer and during training camp. Hyde is unlikely to have standalone value unless Carson is hurt early in the year.
