Chris Archer Undergoes Surgery
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Chris Archer (hernia) underwent surgery on Tuesday to fix a bilateral hernia. The recovery time for this procedure is six weeks, so he's expected to be on schedule for the start of spring training in 2019. Archer was mostly a disappointment in 2018 between the Rays and Pirates, going 6-8 with a 4.31 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 162 strikeouts in 148 1/3 innings over 27 starts. With better health, the right-hander should be able to bounce back some and still has strikeout upside as a second fantasy starter.
