Chase Hampton 2024 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Could Warrant A Late Call-Up This Fall
10 months agoChase Hampton was drafted in the sixth round by the New York Yankees in the 2022 MLB Draft and is currently ranked the 92nd overall prospect on MLB Pipeline. The former Texas Tech Red Raider performed well in 2023, where he started nine games in High-A and 11 in Double-A and posted a combined 3.63 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 145 strikeouts across 106 2/3 innings. In High-A, the right-handed pitcher posted a strong 2.68 ERA with an excellent 1.00 WHIP but saw his numbers climb in Double-A to a mediocre 4.37 ERA and 1.26 WHIP. However, Hampton maintained an almost identical walk rate of 8.4% and 8.5% in both levels, showing robust control of his pitches. If Hampton can fine-tune his technique, he should be promoted to Triple-A relatively quickly and could even open the season there, opening the door for a chance to join the Bronx Bombers in the second half of the season.
