Chargers To Have Competition At Left Tackle
5 years agoLos Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Shane Steichen said that offensive lineman Sam Tevi, Trey Pipkins, Trent Scott and Forrest Lamp are options to start at left tackle, in that order, in 2020. "We've got guys over there that are going to compete," Steichen said. The Bolts beefed up the right side of their offensive line in the offseason with the additions of right guard Trai Turner and right tackle Bryan Bulaga, but the left side is still a question mark after they took quarterback Justin Herbert at No. 6 overall in the first round of the draft instead of a starting left tackle. Tevi didn't play any snaps at left tackle in 2019, so it's something to watch as the Chargers attempt to protect either Tyrod Taylor or Herbert in the post-Philip Rivers era.
