Chargers Pick Up Mike Williams' Fifth-Year Option
5 years agoThe Los Angeles Chargers exercised the fifth-year option on wide receiver Mike Williams on Thursday, according to a source. There was never much question that the Bolts would pick up William's option for the 2021 season after he reached the 1,000-yard receiving mark in 2019 in his third year in the league. However, Williams only caught 49 passes and scored two touchdowns despite averaging a league-high 20.4 yards per catch. The seventh overall pick in 2017 had 10 touchdowns in his sophomore year in 2018. He's great for those in standard-scoring formats, but he leaves a lot to be desired in PPR leagues if he's not scoring touchdowns. With Tyrod Taylor likely under center to start the 2020 season, Williams' fantasy stock could be even more boom or bust.
