Casey Mize Injured Thursday
5 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitching prospect Casey Mize (shoulder), baseball's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, left his start with Double-A Erie early on Thursday with right shoulder soreness, according to multiple people with knowledge of the situation. He threw 23 pitches over 2 1/3 innings and his velocity was way down at the end of his outing. Mize is expected to undergo an MRI exam on Friday. The 22-year-old has been one of the most dominating pitchers in the minors in 2019, posting a 0.92 ERA and 0.69 WHIP in 13 starts with Erie and Single-A Lakeland. He has struck out 75 hitters and walked 12 in 78 innings. The No. 1 overall pick out of Auburn in 2018 should already be stashed in a lot of leagues. Hopefully his injury proves to be minor.
