Carson Wentz Unlikely To Play At All In Preseason
6 years agoPhiladelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz (knee) did full-team drills on July 26 and 28 but hasn't participated since then. He's eight months removed from his knee injury last year but has been limited to seven-on-seven drills since his last day of full team drills. “It’s frustrating,” Wentz said after practice Tuesday. “Obviously, getting a chance to get out there and everything, I felt great, it was fun to be out there, but again just trusting what the doctors are saying." He will not play in the preseason opener on Thursday against the Steelers, and nobody expects him to play at all in the preseason. Wentz isn't expecting to do team drills next week, either. The Eagles are playing it extremely cautiously with their star quarterback, but one has to wonder if he'll be rusty at all come Week 1 if he sits out the entire preseason. Unless he suffers a setback, all signs point to Wentz being cleared in time for Week 1. Wentz has the potential to be a top-five fantasy quarterback if he stays healthy all year.
